Employees were given six months of salary and even medical benefits as a lay-off package, almost unheard in Silicon valley.

In addition to that Cisco tried its best to help employees, that were getting laid off, to find jobs in other business units and in some cases they did.

Chambers does care for employees that perform well and are laid off for circumstances that are beyond his control.
