>>The nice thing about the waltz is that it can be enjoyed over such a wide range -- as a very proper, formal dance with your grandmother, and as an extraordinarily erotic dance with the right partner for that.<<

That's interesting Christopher.

I've always thought of the waltz as the dance equivalent to the game of golf.

Learn it early and well and you'll be able to play far along into your advanced years.

Your story of the elderly woman reminded me of a great memory of my husband's Grandmother (in her early 70's at the time)

On one of my frequent visits to her, one day we were going through old photographs, and I noticed one of her dressed in "flapper" garb. Very risque outfit for the time. I began to tease her a little bit and she told me that was her "dancing dress". And then she said she STILL loved dancing, and that she could still "cut a rug", then proceeded to bust a move right there in the kitchen!

It was great...She then proceeded to show me how to Charleston.
