The communicator is already to be modified, some odd bugs have been found, like being in the middle of calling when the calender beeps and there is an incoming SMS message. (typical stuff like that)
The OS is Symbian, going back to the famous AMIGA, the small footprint OS which didn't crash, at least not on purpose. (Hello, UK, it even runs on an ARM, although Marconi might be the problem for the City)
Pictures through e-mail, yes, the MMS standard is not yet built nor approved and tested. (this ridiculous quack on old Smart Messaging (Nokia), enabling ringtones, etc, and EMS (Ericsson,Motorola) which enables pictures when MMS, MultiMediaMessaging, is just around the corner, supported by all).
Nokia put the earning forecast in a very smart way, 0.14-0.16 (??).
The 40% market has clearly been spelled in a "not impossible future", IMO as a guidance for no need for anti-trust measures, based on what kind of mess the other players has made of themselves.
The basic fact is that both Ericsson and Motorola has declared they will get out of handsets, focus on SOny and unknown OEMS.
Siemens has declared to be trying, but probably putting their hope in spun off Infineon.
IMO, just a matter of how fast new features are needed, at this rate, 2-3 times a year.
No time for OEMS and waiting for the blessed chipset.

Even The Great Matsushita and NEC seem to understand that. |
