I'd never heard of Wireless Services or FreiRein before. They're both tiny companies. Wireless Services's only noteworthy client is Nextel, which isn't exactly much to gloat about. They received some venture capital funding late last year, but I don't know how much. FreeRein reported receiving $15 million in first round venture capital funding last November but nothing since. AT&T Wireless is the only wireless carrier listed as a partner company. Of minor interest is the caption to this AT&T Wireless listing:

The AT&T Wireless Data Developers Program provides FreeRein with the resources necessary to define, architect, test, and implement wireless solutions based on the AT&T PocketNet Service.

I hadn't known that AT&T Wireless is actively fostering start-up companies to develop new services to be delivered over Infospace's PockNet platform, though it isn't a surprise.

It's been about a year since both companies received their last venture capital infusions and neither appears to have developed any substantial business or compelling product base. I expect each company is probably on its last legs and won't be around a year from now.

Potentially more programmers for Infospace to hire?
