I totally agree that the problem was the easing and the panic in the face of LTCM and supposed Y2K.

As you say, that's the source of the whole problem.

But I just say that with that much irresponsibility, all it took was what you call miniscule raises in interest rates to start the markets down.

Goodness! You are talking to someone who has all his money in Dow puts, foreign bonds, some gold and silver, and other short and defensive and cash positions. If the dollar tanks and the market tanks, my net worth will be much higher. I live in a mortgage-free house and drive a Toyota Tercel which actually gets better highway milaeage than the new $22,000 semielectric Prius. I was a bear much too soon. Was happy tohear that I was in company with John Neff.
