*Weekly Predictions ** For AMAT and the rest of the tech's. Two weeks ago the excuse for no rally was that all the traders were out for a long week-end (Labor Day week). The light volume meant that nothing could happen till after Labor Day when all the traders came back.Things would get better right after the labor day week end. That was conventional wisdom ten days ago. It was dead wrong. 100% dead wrong. This weeks conventional wisdom is that the downtrend continues until 1) We retest some pre defined bottom on the Nasdaq. Could conventional wisdom be 100% wrong again? On Thursday, INTC, gives a mid quarter report, and ORCL and ADBE report earnings. These will impact the market if only for a short term. But since no one is expecting much from either company the only surprise could be good news and a upside bias for techs. What could INTC and ORCL say that is not reflected their trashed stock prices? Even if they say nothing a rally is likely. A week end review of a whole lot of message boards gives me the impression that if Greenspan ran for public office in any county that normally voted 90% Republican, he would get soundly defeated. Its hard to find something that he hasn't been blamed for. So for now he is taking the heat for those vaporized trillions, but if the sell off continues the heat will refocus on Bush and Cheney. And all the Rush Limbaugh's in the world won't be able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again..... Regards, Jerome
