pg 156 Frost and Prechter "Elliot Wave Principle"

Wave III:1942-1965

pg 157 Wave IV: 1965 to 1974

pg 157 Wave V: 1974 to ?- This wave of cycle degree is still unfolding. It is likely that two Primary waves have been completed at this juncture and that the market is in the process of tracing out the third Primary

The reason I asked is that I was trying to approximate a bottom by using the "wave 4 will bottom in the vicinity of the previous 4th wave of lesser degree" rule.

The same question can apply to the Naz instead if that is an easier read. Seems to me like we should be trying our hardest to find a lesser wave 4 in the indices.
