What I don't understand: If Intel wanted the P4 chipset market alone, why are they selling licenses at all (so far SiS, ALi and ATI)? Maybe they think that these companies aren't as "dangerous" as VIA or NVIDIA but probably it's just that different people in the company are thinking different on this subject which lead to this compromise. They would certainly have enough 0.25 and 0.18 micron capacity to satisfy the entire market. Why not go for it all then?
