I don't see Dell suddenly transforming itself from a basically non-technical company whose main strength is in manufacturing and inventory control into the kind of innovative technology company that large IT departments will rely on for mission-critical systems. I haven't yet swallowed the 'commoditized-server' story to the point where I can see a screwdriver house, which is all Dell has ever been, is, and will ever be, ending up as Intel's Itanic standard-bearer in the enterprise. And a slow-moving unfocussed bureaucracy is not so promising for moving high-end product either. So I still don't see where the core of the Itanium's success channel is coming from.
