au contraire, Puck...It was a very serious question....I've had the same thing here...The Capt here (Buffett fan ) says it NEVER pays to lose money, especially for someone who is in the high tax bracket...A loss is a loss is a loss....etc.... So you (as you said --obviously) didn't read my question correctly... I honestly thought you could tell me (maybe draw a picture....) of how this works.... i.e. invest $425 million sell back $21.7 million in two years Loss so far $403 million Sell MSFT, as you say $500 million in a quarter...or year, or whatever..at big gain Do you subtract the two, and get $97 million gain... deal with it in your tax bracket, probably 39.4% at least... So owe about $38 million.... So are you saying it is GOOD to lose this kind of money...or lose money period... I wasn't kidding....Really don't understand the rationale... Our tax form only has 58 attachments...
