Jon:

<<something did change. What was it?>>

If we're looking at the last 70 years, one thing that did change is the production of base metals on a massive scale by historical standards. Silver is a bi-product of copper mining, for example. If the ratio of silver to gold in copper deposits is much higher than the ratio of silver to gold in gold deposits, then this could explain it.

Perhaps Claude or Bob have figures on this? How much silver do you get on average as a bi-product of a gold deposit? And how much silver and gold do you get on average as bi-products of copper mining?

Hope this makes sense! :^)

Regards,
Howy
