As for subidies for fusion - a waste of money.

Do you also think the money we spend on space exploration is a waste? And the high tech that came out of NASA and the moon program? Do you think our scientific achievements are market based?

Without scientific achievements you would be presiding over a market in sea shells...but what the heck...at least it would be a market.

Markets are simply a methodology for distributing resources and products. They are not some kind of magical cure all. They can be very disruptive.

Take water for example. A market can't create water. If one has a limited resource the market won't make more of it. We could let the price of water float and watch it triple.....what satisfaction...market priced water! However it doesn't cost any more to produce the water so why should we pay more for it? We won't get any more water but we will pay more for less! What a bargain....more $ and less water.

I know...when the water runs low the markets will come along with a replacement ! Markets are fabulous things.
