Well if those two articles don't make a CSCO investor nervous I'm not sure what would. For the next week or two we get to play truth or consequences. If the investors believe the analysts then CSCO is headed for ten. But the analysts have lost so much creditability that investors may use them as a contrary indicator and buy CSCO regardless. I don't know how this plays out.

I cannot fault the analysis that telecoms are cutting back on Cap Ex for the next year or so. But this kind of analysis is making the assumption that the economy is going to stay depressed. It might and it might not.This is getting to be like the auto industry. GM and Ford decide this week on how much production of any anticipate a year from now on any given model. But a year from now the FED drops interest rates several times, the economy picks up and GM and Ford have to scramble to get their suppliers to deliver more parts than were initially requested.

If the outlook was rosy for the next year, there would be a good chance things could fall apart. But the outlook is disastrous so the only surprise can be a quicker recovery.
