Delphi wins contracts for 2 different products

NEW YORK, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Delphi Automotive Systems Corp. (NYSE:DPH), the world's largest auto parts maker, said on Tuesday it had been awarded major contracts for its advanced airbag technology and its remote-controlled sliding door.

The Troy, Michigan-based company said it had been awarded the fourth contract for its passive occupant detection system or ``PODS,'' which measures a passenger's weight with sensors in seat cushions to determine whether to deploy an airbag.

Delphi said that with new legislation in the United States requiring advanced air bags, the new technology could generate as much as $300 million in annual revenue for the company. ``PODS'' was introduced in the 2001 Jaguar model.

Seperately, the company said it had received $54 million of contracts in Europe for its power sliding door, which allows side sliding doors, such as those found on SUV's, to be opened remotely.
