There's no going backwards and I hope the ramifications permit us to have a great country we can continue to be proud of and secure in, blemishes and all.

Bin Laden has earned his end prior to this, whether his hands are in this one or not. My post was not intended to suggest we kiss and make up with the guilty; I'm very conscious of the reality that freedom sometimes requires unpleasant but necessary choices (Lincoln made quite a few, such as suspending Constitutional law, in pursuit of a higher goal).

I harbor no warm fuzzballs for the guilty scuzzballs.

But I know, in times like these, how we act under stress counts, too. The families touched by this will need our very best efforts to get through the pain and grief. That, and my concern for innocents, was what I tried to express.

As well, it preserves what we have as a nation.... heart. Without that, we could easily act on suicidal missions, because there'd be damn little left worth protecting.
