Lew, I agree about the personal freedom and privacy that will be impacted. I can't imagine that going through airport security in the future will be anything but a horrible experience. And, if nothing else, I hope this will force authorities to check the items carried by airport personnel and flight crews. I will hate the extra security measures. But they seem to be absolutely necessary under the circumstances.
