My husband, who works for the federal government less than a mile from the Pentagon, was ordered to leave the building he works in due to fear of further terrorist attacks. While I was waiting for him to come home, I collected my children, got cash from the bank, filled up my gas tank, and bought a lot of groceries and bottled water, also some more flashlights and batteries.
Now my husband is home, and he is going out again to donate blood, which is desperately needed. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to donate blood because one of the drugs I take causes birth defects.
We, like everyone else in the country, do not know what will happen next, but our hearts and prayers are with the people who have been injured today, have lost loved ones today, and the ones who are gallantly struggling to save lives and preserve our safety and way of life.
As a gesture of our love for our country, and for what it means to the free way of life for people all over the world, we are flying Old Glory in the accustomed spot which we normally fly her in on special occasions. If there was ever a special occasion in my life that made me want to tell the world that I am proud to be an American, this is it. I know it will seem strange to many, but that flag is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
I am proud to number so many different people from so many different countries and walks of life as my friends.
If you can find it in your heart to support us in the days to come, we will be grateful.
God Bless America!
Now I am going to the store to buy some more flags. |
