Tom, I know ORTL is coming out with a 1550 nm laser,it is catching up to HLIT's technology. But then what is HLIT ding in their new research facility? Well we know that they have come out with a narrowcast system for telephony,and MPEG-2 TRANScend system for digital transmission. Here is a good article on 1550 nm lasers from this months Lightwave,it mentions both HLIT and ORTL. lfw.com Also it mentions Synchronous Comm and ADCT. Tim
