Hi Paul,

We are already getting reports of $5/gal gasoline with long line in Chicago and St. Louis. A classic panic reaction, and unfortunately, the hoarding leads to a self-fulfilling shortage of fuel in a JIT world.

The volume of trades on the equity markets must necessarily be diminished with so many traders (Morgan, Stanley, Cantor-Fitzgerald and others) missing from the action.

The aggregate data for the third quarter is now most likely to be tipped into recession. The nation was nearly totally paralyzed today, and tomorrow probably won't be a lot better.

The insurance industry will be in disarray for several quarters.
