NO, there are many alternatives, but they all require patience, and some manifest themselves over a long period of time. There is NO instant gratification on a matter like this, and the American public needs to get their hands around that concept. The WSJ touches on an essential initial requirement: Get our government OUT of areas they should not be in, so that they can concentrate resources on their duty to provide for the common defense. My own short list. The government should immediately cease, or begin to phase out:

The "War on Drugs".

The Microsoft anti-trust case.

The Education, Commerce, and Energy departments.

The Social Security system.

Medicare.

Any environmental regulations that can't stand up to the strict scrutiny of a full economic impact statement.

The Trial Lawyers' Bill of Rights.

Campaign Finance "Reform".

The National Endowment for the Humanities, including all public broadcasting.

The above would be a good start-but just a start.
