I'm O Negative (universal donor) and tried to donate blood yesterday. It was impossible as the lines were too long, four to five hour wait.

It seems that many citizens felt compelled to do something and donating blood was the only practical response many could make. I mean, who can lob any rockets
bin Laden's way?

A beautiful human response which simply doesn't happen unless a disaster takes place. Absent such a calamity, blood banks run dangerously low. I know--I get calls all the time because of my blood type.
