So, Neo, can we start a constructive discussion about this?
Seems to me that we got shifted into a different model yesterday. Was what happened a crime? Or was it war? Or was it something else, like piracy? We need to know what paradigm we're experiencing. It's analogous to the legal scenario where something is either person or property. We have things that are not quite one but not quite the other, like embryos, pets, masterpieces. Into what paradigm does yesterday fit. If it's more like piracy, which is how it seems to me, what historical models do we have? I don't know of any in my lifetime.
Then we have the question is who is the enemy and how does that fit into the model. It seems silly to be at war with bin Laden, one person. On the other hand, we certainly aren't at war with Arabs or Muslims, as some have suggested. The closest I can get to identifying an enemy is the terrorist network. That seems to best fit the piracy model, although there are war elements to it.
What do you think this is an who do you think is the enemy?
