<ot>Hi George - your theory is indeed a possible scenario. A few weeks ago I read about the murdering of a Israelis in a West Bank {?] town whose population is 99% Palestinians. The problem is that the man, a taxi driver, had been friend with the locals for yrs, if not decades. In fact, he was murdered by a masked man when his Palestinian friend was serving him breakfast. Anyway, the town folks, who had little to do with intafata, were grief stricken. They also knew that the real intention of the murderer was to provoke an Israelis crackdown, so to draw this town into the conflict. Thankfully, the Israelis soldiers investigating this incident also knew the situation. So, instead of cracking down, they were courteous --- even comforting ---to the town people.
The moral of the story is that thru the eyes of a monster, sometimes we find decency and commonality amongst people of different backgrounds
