FWIW, I think your recommendations on the shorting situation is the proper one, and I hope that whatever influence you may have on people to follow this course of non shorting action is taken to heart and followed.
I do not think that shorting will help matters, and each one of us should take a stand and say that that they will do nothing that contributes to the negative. There are times in life when people need to look beyond the personal, and do what's best for the whole.

The market may fall but at least by not shorting, one can say that they did nothing to help the drop.

I am of the belief that at this point in time, what's good for the whole is to do nothing that might contribute to chaos.
Don't short, don't sell, don't rush to the bank, don't panic.

By standing tall, we send a message that we are the tough, we are the brave, we don't fold.
