Zeev, I suspect they could manage around the simple device you refer to, but I think the general approach is sound and deserves immediate attention. Perhaps instead of just focusing on fingerprints, additional information such as brain waves or voice could be required. Of course any time you start talking about the capability of putting a plane on automatic pilot such that the people on board the plane can no long control it, you may be creating more problems than you solve. For example if the terrorists could take control of such a system, they could remotely fly the planes into buildings without actually needing to be on board.
