You know, I saw that street scene being played out in video. Did you notice it was about 15 kids and a few adult ring leaders? They would stop cars and have them put on a show for the cameras. Congratulations, you found one of the better pictures. Most people (including passers-by and shop owners) were in the background and were not "joyful".

Last night I heard some old guy here in the Bay Area say that we should be sending nukes to Afghanistan. Now does that seem like a good idea? How many civilians would be killed in such an act? How many guilty would be "punished"? Isn't that just technological terrorism?

This is a new type of war where we are fighting people who are desperately poor, have lived in constant violence, blame our foreign policies (for good reason) and have little to lose. We've pounded the Iraqi infrastructure (killing lots of civilians, I might add) and this seems to not bother us one iota. We've supported Israeli occupation of the most arable land, leaving the dry hills to the Palestinians.

The identified targets of our hostility still roam free in Iraq, free to kill more Kurd people, if there are any left. Many people in the world probably see this as our "come uppance".
