You don't even have to read between the lines on the BOE of sale (now completed @ many-times-oversubscribed as usual) to see that keeping gold down is an end unto itself. They pretty much just say it:

"Bullion dealers have said it'd be a disaster if the BOE auction was canceled, said John Mesrobian, president of Constantinople Advisors, noting that prices for gold would go up even higher"

My question is: "...and this is a disaster because...?"
