Where do we go from here ? The unthinkable horrors dreamed up in Hollywood thrillers have become reality. The hunt for the perpetrators has begun, and I do not know what kind of military action will occurr, and when. Everyone is clamoring for instant retribution, but it may take months or years before we achieve our objective. Air travel will have changed forever. More security checks, armed guards,and redesign of the pilots cabin so that hijackers can never gain entry. How will the national character change ? I do not know. The financial markets will take a tumble and maybe a long global recession is in the cards. I am surprised that the European and Japanese markets did not collapse further. Hopefully Wall Street, despite its proximity and association with the World Trade Center, will hold up likewise. The Fed is ready to pump up the monetary system to prevent a panic. I did not get to go to the top of the World Trade Center. But I am sure that in my lifetime America will rebuild the World Trade Center. Damn it, it was an American Icon ! No terrorist bastard can take it away from us ! We shall rebuild it. We will learn how to proof it from similar attacks. It shall be bigger and better ! The American spirit will live on.
