You do not have to go through a security check pt if you arrive and your departure is in the same general gate area. Logan has different check pts for the same terminal. Some departures/arrivals leave from areas that have only 2-3 gates. So depends on arrival and departure and what airlines...

But I don't think it really matters if they were using some type of plastic knife or such. I'll tell you that I think it would be easy to get through logan. My keys don't even set off the detectors sometimes... And I'll say that alot of the security people at logan have some type Indian/Muslum background IMO. This is one thing that has always bothered me... I fly United/USAir quite often from Logan...
