Dear Ratan: I am no expert in the politics of that region but it is my understanding that we of course did arm and aid the Afganistani people in their struggle against Russia, however the faction we helped after first being involved in the Govt. were KICKED OUT by the current regime and in fact are themselves waging a civil war in Afganistan right now. I wish to point out that the USA will make the case that we have no territorial interest etc in that country and if the population stands aside as we apprehend and hang their govt leaders we will not harm them, and will return the country to the people to elect their own government.
