I don't have confidence that the government will make the right decisions in response to what's happened. Our government lacks the courage to do what should be done, and our nation lacks the mental toughness to support what needs to be done.

I enlisted in the Marines during the Viet Nam War. I was promoted out of boot camp, number 2 in a class of 80, and I finished at the top of my class in advanced training at Camp LeJuene, NC.

I volunteered twice to go to Viet Nam. I was turned down both times. I was told the politicians wouldn't let us win that war and the Marines were saving their best for the next one.

I had friends that lost their lives in Nam, in a war they weren't allowed to win. I can't recall a single politician who had a son lose his life in Nam. The entire experience sickened me, to waste American lives for nothing, and no politician's son was on the front lines, paying the price that those who were drafted had to pay. And we lacked the courage and mental toughness to win.

Our government had a chance to redeem itself in the Gulf War and didn't, in my opinion. We Americans celebrated as our advance tactical fighters wiped out a third world army. And we were supposed to be impressed. That wasn't an honorable victory, in the true sense. It was the same thing as the sixth grade bully beating up on a third grade kid. The bigger, stronger kid should have won.

The disease that permeates our government continued to show itself during the Gulf War. We lacked the courage and the mental toughness to take out the leadership of our enemy. An honorable victory would have included taking out the leadership of Iraq. It would have meant taking out Sadaam.

When you continue to take out the leadership of your enemies, you won't get people who are so anxious to take you on.

Our government is as much responsible for what happened yesterday as the terrorists are because they lacked the courage to nip this in the bud years ago. They allowed it to fester, they allowed it to grow and become what it has become today.

Terrorism will continue to thrive because we as a society don't have the stomach to eliminate it.

We'll probably shoot some missiles, drop some bombs and American citizens will celebrate with a , "There, take that!"

Our government lacks the courage and our citizens lack the mental toughness to achieve true victory. We lack the will to win and winning can only be achieved if we take out the leadership of the enemy.
