Agreed and by adapting that morale to the current circumstances we may see that it now becomes necessary to mete out a disproportionate revenge to those that purposefully murdered our fellow citizens in order to dissuade others that might be tempted to do so again in the future. Which is shorthand for the Airborne motto, "Kill them all and let God sort it out."

That phrase is reminiscent of "an eye for an eye" and it represents the Old Testament morality that didn't hesitate to punish evildoers. Churchill demonstrated a keen appreciation for the psychological perspective of these Arab states that are supporting terrorists when he said(speaking of the Germans), "They are either at your feet or at your throat."

I know that I'd rather have them supine than upright and before we're done that's what we'll have.
