U.S. stock markets to remain closed Thursday-Grasso
NEW YORK, Sept 12 (Reuters) - U.S. stock markets will remain closed for a third day on Thursday following the deadly air attack that destroyed the World Trade Center in Manhattan's financial district, exchange leaders and regulators said on Wednesday.

Full or partial equities trading will resume as early as Friday and no later than Monday, New York Stock Exchange Chairman Richard Grasso told a press briefing at investment bank Bear Stearns in midtown Manhattan.

Trading in U.S. government securities, by contrast, will resume at 8:00 a.m EDT (1200 GMT) on Thursday, said Peter Fisher, undersecretary for domestic finance at the U.S. Treasury Department.

Earlier, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the top regulator for U.S. equities markets, indicated that stock exchanges might be able to reopen on Thursday.
