It is a very poor and ignorant country.

Permit me to offer an example from personal experience. While in college, I made the acquaintance of many students from all over the world. They had two things in common that I noticed - a will to learn, and a good spirit.

I remember in particular a friend from Afganistan. He was a very, very good guy - very smart, and I still remember thirty years later some of our conversations.

One time he told me about a feature in the newspaper he read at home. It was like a "Ripley's Believe it or Not" thing. The one he remembered the most was one where American Drive-In Movies were described. He said it was like another planet.

A big word for him was "freedom". Being a kid that had never been far from home, I didn't understand the magnitude of where he was coming from. He told me only 10% of the people in his entire country could read and write.

I don't recall us ever talking about religion, and in truth, I don't recall ever even knowing what his religious faith was.

Like Iran, and other Islamic nations, his customs were different from mine. But he most certainly was not a lying scheming evil bastard mass murderer.

It's not "Afganistan" or "Egypt" or "Iraq" or any other country. It's more like The United Planet Forces of Evil in the comic books, only it's real. Their "religious beliefs" are just an excuse for them to commit henious criminal acts, just like all other members of the United Planet Forces of Evil. Anyone who blames a religion or a country is making the exact mistake they want made - misdirection.
