>Do you honestly think we would have had the tragedy we had on Sept 11, if they had feared us?
Yes. They obviously don't give a sh*t about their own lives man, come on,it's obvious!
>What will it take to convince you that your way will never work with fanatics?
Well, obviously your way, has not worked with these guys. Maybe give mine a chance, why not?
>Would you change your mind if one of your kids or your wife was one of their victims?
The same question ruined Dukakis and I am not falling for it. Ask me if this happens and I will respond to you. Until then I do not want to even think about it, seeing all those people dead and the pain of their families is horrific enough, thanks but I 'll pass on this question.
>The leaders would gladly turn over to us anybody we wanted them to, if they really knew if they didn't we would not go after the people but the friggin leaders who get money from our government to turn out terrorists.
Not so simple HF. Sadam was a good friend of the US for years, he went a bit too far and he turned into an evil monster and popped up in the terrorist nation list. Milosevic, in Dayton, was the peacemaker, less than two years later he magically turned into a vicious monster. These examples are endless. It always comes down to national interests. This went too far and this better become a national interest issue right now, it was fine as long as it was just isolated incidents around the globe but this is different. So national interests have to be reassessed in light of the new situation. Pursuing the present national interests (with the same foreign policy agenda) is, I am afraid, a guarantee that this sh*t will happen again and again. So don't bitch at the next tragedy allright?
>What about our innocents?
Listen, here I am NOT justifying them but I am sure the bombers were saying the same thing! We must understand the causes of that hate to effectively respond to it. blindly retaliating will just perpetuate the cycle of violence.
>Where did they get the money, the training to fly a 767, the intelligence knowledge? They got it from our government, our CIA.
You got a good point there:)
>We are the only country in the world that is helping our enemies destroy us.
Don't you think it is time to stop it? I do.
>We need new leadership and I am praying that Bush understands what he needs to do and will not listen to the likes of your ideas.
I agree that we need much better leaders than we had recently. I say change foreign policy objectives (well I outlined them hundreds of posts ago!) and we are in much better shape in escaping carnage like yesterday than by just retaliating and creating more martyrs.
Most do not agree with me. My wife does not either, I am used to that. I respect your opinion and I hope you respect mine even if you do not agree with it, it is called democracy. |
