After today's events, I was thinking about how much evil there is in the world. If there is that much evil, and God is greater than any evil, no wonder man is able to keep a positive outlook through such horror. I want to keep that perspective on how good He is. So many on this board confuse the truth and blame the evil on God when it was the devil who rebelled against God in heaven. So he was banned.
When Adam and Eve slipped, they gave the devil the right to this world. That would have been all there was, except that God, in His mercy overcame the evil one. He sent Jesus to take away the sting of death, the consequence of sin. His goodness is greater than the evil.
You wrote that God is prepared to give death if you unwittingly choose it. No, not unwittingly. God gives us opportunity after opportunity. We just don't know when He will stop allowing the opportunities. "For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him."
The beauty of the gospel is it's simplicity. We don't have to have a genius IQ to understand it. You make it more difficult than it needs to be, my intelligent friend.
My favorite nephew lives in NYC. When today's events were being announced, his dad began calling his home, worried for his safety. A busy signal continued for about 10 minutes. When he finally was successful getting through, he found that my sister had already called him from her office and reached him. Her call was the busy signal. The office he works in is near the towers. But he works nights and was home sleeping. I am thankful.
A woman from our church's brother was on the 61st floor of one of the towers today. He was knocked unconscious and when the building fell, he was carried the whole way down and walked away. How can we not praise God for that?
As I reread this post, I thought how foolish it must seem to you. I am sure that if the world continues on the path it is on, I will be content to have this child-like faith for the sake of the peace I have found.
The one class you are taking that is different from the other, is it the blah or the great class?
