Tit for tat. Butter for fat. You kick my dog, I'll kick your cat.
I said it already on CFZ, so I'll give you the short answer. They don't have the right to hide behind the shield of sovereign immunity when they violate all other international laws, treaties, and conventions. You don't get to pick and choose which laws you like. If you don't play by the rules, then you suffer the consequences.

Are we perfect? No. It's a great big confusing world, with a lot of choices which somehow never seem to include the perfect choice, the ideal choice, the morally unambiguous choice. I didn't make the mistakes my father made, my grandfather made, my greatgrandfather made, but I have to live with them, as well as my own mistakes, and try to do the best I can with what's in front of me.
One thing I know for a fact is that I, myself, personally, am innocent of wrong-doing in this matter. If you want someone without sin to cast the first stone, hand it to me. Better yet, hand it to the parents of the three grade school children who won a National Geographic competition, and were travelling with their teachers to a conference in California. Hand it to the grandparents of the two children who were travelling to Australia with their parents, one of whom was a college professor on sabbatical.
If you require innocence and clean hands before choices are made, we're here. |
