SANTA CLARA, Calif.--Memory chip supplier Alliance Semiconductor Corp. today cut its revenue estimate for the current fiscal quarter to a sequential drop of 50-to-60% from $12.0 million in sales during the prior period, ended June 30.

"Our first two quarters of this fiscal year we have experienced weak demand both DRAM and SRAM products as customers are dipping into existing inventories," said N.D. Reddy, chairman, president and CEO of Alliance Semiconductor. "While we are hoping to see an upside in orders during the remaining two quarters of this fiscal year, we have not seen significant evidence of an industry upturn."

Alliance posted an $11.0 million net loss during the last quarter. The Santa Clara company is scheduled to report its second fiscal quarter results on Oct. 18.
