Sad to say, but I think you have the only solution.
The flight crew needs physical security and weapons -
and strict orders not to open regardless of threats
or actions by terrorists.

Although strict security measures should continue, the flight crew needs protection. Actually, it isn't necessary for the terrorists to have any weapons. They just need to occupy 8 or 10 seats in first class and bully their way into the 2-person cockpit. The rest block the aisle for 15 minutes - that's all it takes, because most passengers will either remain indecisive or be afraid of getting hurt. The terrorists have neither of these constraints.
