I find it border line insane to recall how upset this thread was when the Taliban decided on their own sovereign soil to knock down a Buddha statue.

Wasn't just outrage against the destruction of
the statues ...an outrage against these primitives
denying International efforts to have those statues
removed from their offended eyes and from
"their sovereign soil " as you put it.

From their sovereign soil , Joe ? Have we/you
become a sovereiginty freak now ?

The destruction of the Buddha statues runs parralel with
other Fundamentalist beliefs , that sanctify and glory in
destruction and acts of violence , the suppression
and abuse of women, of totalitarian fascist rule
by fanatical barbaric bastiges...interested in
their own self-glorification
and dominance.
