The Salomon conference call was replete with anecdotal evidence
and opinions based on weak evidence. They seem to feel that intc is in a short term bind that may stretch over several quarters as they make their PII product transition. However, this is nothing new and does not add much factually to what is already known. Their opinion that the PII is slow on the demand side is not really backed up by any significant evidence. This is the slow season for consumer PC's. Europe will be going on vacation soon. So the real situation will be revealed in the fall and winter seasons. Longer term, they seem to think that intc is unstoppable.

The other half of the story is not being told. What is AMD's and CYRX's actual situations. What problems are they really having in making their own product transitions both from marketing and a manufacturing viewpoints. Again, it looks like we will have to wait for the reports to determine the actual situations.

regards,

Jim Kelley
