<<I want the Marines sent in to root out the government and root out those terrorists and HANG EM right on the spot. Preferably on international TV>>
Yes, very sensible. Someone hits you in the mouth, you want to hit them back. You figure they're not like you, they'll just lie down after being hit in the mouth. Does that make sense to you? Do you feel much like laying down? Won't they just want to hit us again?

We're supposed to be the civilized ones, we should remember that when we respond.

Here's a pretty good article on the subject: Terrorists Are Made Not Born

Precisely, you hit them again so hard that they can't get up. When someone hates you irrationally, rational discourse is a weakness that prevents you from taking effective retaliatory action.
And if they do hit us again we hit them repeatedly until the rubble of their society dances and the vultures feed on their dead.

Quit whining and admit that Clinton was an unmitigated disaster as Commander in Chief. He forfeited any responsibility for undertaking retaliation during two terms in office and left his successor with this mess.

As for Papa Bush's alleged incompetence in finishing off Saddam, perhaps you don't recall how the Senate Democratic Caucus came within three votes of preventing us from initiating Dessert Shield/Storm. That was an uphill political battle to end the post VietNam defeatist mindset. That very substantial Democratic domestic resistance to defending Quwait is what established the minimal war expectations that permitted Saddam's regime to escape retribution.

Now you're spouting more of the defeatist nonsense that amounts to saying, "I can't change that bad man's mind so I'd better change my own." Nonsense. Kill the perpetrators and scourge the country that was their host.

Howl and let fly the dogs of war.
