This is a general comment to the thread -

I just listened to Bush's speech - it was loaded with "um", "y'know" and confused pauses... The commentators are talking about how relaxed he is - and I suspect it was valium or the like.

I am not a crackpot, I have tried hard to like and respect the man, but he still scares me to death. I believe he is intellectually incapable of holding the office and is being well managed by his father and others.

There will be some who try to defend him by bringing up the mistakes of Clinton, but that is called begging the question. There will be some who accuse me of being unpatriotic and say we should rally behind the president in this time of crisis, but I believe that ignoring the truth does a greater disservice to the country.

I am truly frightened because this speech projected the weakness and uncertainty of our president's character. I am afraid that terrorists will mistake this for weakness on the part of the American people and our system.

I am a psychologist and anthropologist by training. Please do not dismiss my observations out of hand even if you disagree with them.

Peace,
Paula
