I expressed my feelings after the speech in a candid fashion. I have a right to do this. I am sure there are many more who feel just as I do.

I once told a lecture hall of college students that I reserved the right to exercise racial prejudice on the streets of the city in order to protect myself. About 1/3 of the group were black criminal justice majors. What I said was not popular, but realistic. I had had negative experiences with black strangers and it was a rational response for me to exercise caution when meeting a black man on the street. I respond differently when introduced to a black person in a secure environment, and I am generally trusting of black females, even in a strange environment.

I am sorry you took it as offensive Lola, I wrote the above before you wrote your post because I knew it would have that reaction. It is a serious concern, not meant as offense. Perhaps the illustration given above will help you to understand my point.
