Re Bush, we'll have to hope that he has attracted good people to his side and that he makes good use of them. Post election he seemed to do the former and most reports since seem to indicate the latter.

Your observations about personal insecurity may be dead on, and if so, I wonder if that's not surprising given the enormity of the challenge and early in his tenure. Perhaps the man is unable to hide what others might have.

I am not being an apologist for Bush, although I do feel for him and the challenge he faces as well as all in leadership positions. The longer term shape of the world rests on the decisions they make over the relatively short term.

I agree with others that people will support their leadership to the extent that they believe the right decisions are being made.
