Jim, great minds think alike. As I was driving home from Atlanta, all that crossed my mind. It has long been rumored that GTE is sitting on a Kazillion $, and they have yet to announce a major entry into the Internet fray. My head buzzes with Sugar Plum fairies when I think about it, especially when rumors have recently floated about that GTE was eyeballing WCOM.

But that kind of speculation usually results in self deception and lures you into a trick bag that never materializes. Not to say that it couldn't, just that it's a pipedream at best.

What I would prefer to focus on, is that Franklin is playing with some big hitters, and even though we may think Franklin isn't getting noticed, that may be a costly oversight to assume. They are smack dab in the middle of a pack of BIG DOGS. But are they really dogs, or a wolf pack, that might look to devour a smaller weaker and potential rival.

I don't think we would ever know until the time actually came, but from a tactics standpoint, they wouldn't need to make their move until all the parts were well oiled and in motion. Why buy a pig in the poke, wait till it squeals, then bring home the cleaver and return with the bacon. Hung, cured, and smoked ready for the BLT.
