Note that a fiber optic node does not necessarly (probably doesn't) represent a data services node.

The "node" they are talking about above represents the tranisition from fiber to coax.

What I am talking about is different - it is the point where the upstream digital signals are collected and placed on a "home run" to the plant, and also where the 26Mbit/sec downstream is split-off to a brach to homes. There may indeed be multiple sub-braches, but they all carry the same downstream data.

I think you will find that 500-1000 homes per node is the best you will find for that.

A bit confusing, eh?

"Homes per node" in @home-speak is the number of homes that you would potentially be sharing the bandwidth with. In a more general sense, when talking about the coax/fiber mix, homes per node represents how many homes are sharing the same coax branch.
