You could not be more wrong. It was a sneak attack in almost every sense of the word.
Compared to Tuesday, it might be termed slightly honorable, as it was a military operation executed against military targets, but your understanding of the incident is flawed beyond reason.
WWII was a long time ago.
This is different. This is much more significant than the beginning of WWII in several ways. First, it impacts the entire planet. An attack of this kind on the United States is quite simply an attack on civilization.
The war we are talking about here was going on when Columbus discovered America. It has been defined and fought steadily since by a society that now has the goal of the entire destruction of western civilization. Anyone who does not see that is not paying full attention. Anyone who does not understand that the society will immediately execute anyone who does not subscribe to them and their plan is displaying ignorance.
It is not "Arabs" or "Muslims" or "Iraqis". It is a society that exists in the shadows of one of the world's great religions.
It is a small society, and its leaders are evil people. Not all the followers are bad people, but all of them contribute to death and pain. They will now be shown in terms that they can fully understand that there used to be a choice between living in the 14th century and living in today's world, but that luxury is now at its end. The philosophy that their enemies will be exterminated when and where they see fit is from this point unworkable, ill-advised, and hazardous not only to the leaders but to the entire society.
All good people, no matter what country they live in or what color their skin or clothing, anticipate the mightiest military force on the face of the earth, and the most powerful country on the planet, might possibly be able to bring about a situation where explosions become less frequent in their particular neighborhood. For this they are hopeful. I personally have no doubt that they will be pleasantly surprised and pleased.
All the evil bastards in the world, no matter what country they live in, will soon be informed that they might possibly be on a list somewhere that could result in their crimes and even perhaps their own lives coming to an end.
They have all made a very serious mistake. Worse than all their other mistakes taken together. They have pissed off the United States of America and its very good friends to the point where the friendly gestures cease and whatever pain threshold these bastards have is not only broken, it is obliterated forever. It just started on Tuesday. It will end when and where the United States of America says, and under terms dictated by the United States of America, and it will be complete, final, and very clear to everyone that is still around to see it.
