Hi,
I'm a little late in responding to you because today of all days I had a looooong hair appointment.

I think the "unpatriotic" spin is a deliberate attempt to keep people in the market so as to avoid a further crash. Frankly, I've been out of all equities except for pharmas and gold miners for almost a year now, as it is quite apparent that we are in a bear market. The fact is that the primary has been "down" for months now and that the American economy is teetering on recession, along with much of the global economy. I think this attack will further destabilize things, for how long I don't know, but if I had money in equities that I were going to need in the next few years, I would be withdrawing it from the market.

There's also been talk on some threads about the "immorality" of short selling this market and suggestions made that those who were short before Tuesday give their short profits back. I heartily disagree with this. I'm straddled and will profit from the inevitable volatility, but I had no idea, just like all the other people who are short, that this was going to happen. Short selling and put buying add to a healthy market.

end of rant -gg
