Because pilots have over-whelming influence on how the avionics and control systems are designed, (I speak from experience in working with Boeing and other companies), there is easy access to the crew compartment, no video monitoring or captain and co-pilot, no ability to over-ride the cockpit and command an aircraft to ground. There is absolutely no reason why the cockpit cannot be made very secure so that no terrorist, no matter how much training and experience they can achieve in an entire life time, can take command of a ship either from the ground or in the air. Why aren't citizens more knowledgeable and upset over this? I hear so-called aviation industry experts who are ignorant on this issue. This makes me sick to my stomach.
